Recently, I was working closely with a client who’s been with me for over three years and we were structuring a video sequence launch for a seminar event. I have to work very closely with clients through video launch funnels to ensure the videos all tie together, as there are quite a few moving parts all happening at the same time.
The interesting thing about the launch was that instead of making the offer for the seminar (product) at the END of the launch sequence, they have a link to the order form THROUGHOUT the 5 part video launch sequence. There’s one for the swipe file;)
While filming the two camera jump cut piece (which is just one camera cut to look like two cameras in post-production), someone brought up the PowerPoint video sales letter styles, which is just when someone is reading their sales copy that has been transferred to PowerPoint slides. I can see WHY this type of video converts so well because you are combining readable text and audio to a video, so you’re touching on the senses that people use to absorb information.
Anyways, on the order page, we created a piece-to-camera (or talking head) presentation. My client and I collaborated and thought, “Hey, why not combine the talking head with the video sales letter concept?”
So instead of just covering the bullet points like they do in television, I basically wrote out the sales copy on the right side of the video screen that was being said WHILE he was talking on the screen.
The video is doing great and it is because of three reasons.
1. We filmed it with the two camera jump cut style.
2. The text on the right hand side of the screen keeps coming in, keeping it visually engaging rather than just a talking head.
3. It also allows people who follow better with text to have it as complimentary to the video.
Here is the video so you can see it for yourself. If you are looking for ideas, I hope this gives you a few where you can add key points or the sales copy itself to your talking head videos. If you don’t know how to do the text effect I did, just do the following :
- Add the main KEY points as bullet points on the video.
- Hire a local videographer off Craigslist that can do this for you.
- If you are using Final Cut Pro, you can find this under Text > Boris 3D > Text Type (using the Keyframe function)
Just press either of the play buttons below to watch the video.
